As you know, or should know, a port of the excellent PSP title Lumines will soon be unleashed on the Xbox Live Arcade. Kotaku pointed me towards Achieve360points.com, which has a list of the achievements expected to be available for the game. I can honestly say that I’ve already accomplished all of those in the original Lumines.

While I think it’s going to be a great game for anyone who hasn’t played it before, I just can’t see much benefit for an existing Lumines veteran to buy Lumines Live. Lumines is definitely a game you can master to a point of boredom, more-so than many other puzzle games. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great while it lasts, but once you “get it” it’s not very challenging at all. By the time I put it down, I felt confident that I could play the game until either my wrists fell off or I passed out from exhaustion, whichever came first.

I could see my opinion changing for these new 360 and PS2 ports of Lumines, as long as they open up the 999,999 score cap. Unfortunately, I don’t forsee that happening considering the Achievements mentioned, only discuss hitting 500,000 in Challenge Mode.

I can’t see “Time Attack” keeping anyone’s attention. Since when are Time Trials ever exciting? The multiplayer component might be entertaining for a bit, if people on my friend list don’t mind losing to me. Another problem is the 360′s D-Pad, which might be way too sensitive for a game like this. The first time it pushes down when I want it to go left you’ll throw the gamepad through the TV.

Anyway, rant over, here’s the list of achievements:

1. Clear “Base” – Clear one round of Challenge Mode “Base”. 20K – 20 Gamerpoints

2. 20K – Play Challenge Mode “Base” and score 20,000 points. Time Attack 60sec. : 30 blocks – 10 Gamerpoints

3. Time Attack 60sec. : 30 blocks – Play Time Attack Mode 60sec. and erase 30 blocks. Time Attack 180sec. : 90 blocks – 10 Gamerpoints

4. Time Attack 180sec. : 90 blocks – Play Time Attack Mode 180sec. and erase 90 blocks. Time Attack 300sec. : 150 blocks – 10 Gamerpoints

5. Time Attack 300sec. : 150 blocks – Play Time Attack Mode 300sec. and erase 150 blocks. Time Attack 600sec. : 300 blocks – 10 Gamerpoints
