Info on How Wiimote Works

CVG has some interesting info on how the Wiimote works. Firstly, they compare it to a virtual mouse, rather than a light gun. It’s a bit hard to explain, but the controller doesn’t directly aim like a light gun would; instead, it’s like a mouse – relative aiming.
Also, they explain that on Wii Tennis, the character has the same visual animations no matter how hard you swing the Wiimote. However, the strength of your swing *does* affect how hard the ball is hit. It’s the same with the spin you put on the ball – the animation won’t change, but the effect will.
Finally, one reason the Wiimote uses AA batteries instead of a rechargable – if you were somehow able to recharge by plugging your Wiimote into the console while you were playing, as with the Xbox 360, you might be likely to pull the whole console off the table/shelf! I do hope that eventually, they’ll release rechargable Wiimotes with a separate charging stand, though.
