Ebay Shuts Down PS3 Auctions
Finally, some great news coming from the next gen auction front. In an attempt to head off corrupt console auctions, Ebay has halted all of their existing PS3 auctions and instated new requirements for anyone who wants to sell PS3′s.
Ebay is now requiring sellers to provide Ebay with written acknowledgement of agreement with eBay’s policies, a copy of their drivers license or photo ID, a copy of a credit card statement or utility bill with their current address, and an invoice or receipt showing “purchase or posession” of the console. It’s a pretty impressive list and I’m sure Ebay is only trying to ensure that buyers can feel confident in their purchase.
I have to be honest, I’d probably never buy any console on Ebay. All of these new systems are so damn delicate, you’d have to be pretty brave to buy used. My 360 was purchased used, but from a friend who I could trust. I’d never buy a used one from Gamestop or EBGames. You never know what you’re getting.
How do you all feel about Ebay’s changes? Do you think they’re controlling the sale a bit too much or are the steps really necessary to ensure consumer confidence in Ebay?
