I agree with the (probably misnamed) notawesome, the guys who work in those chain game stores are usually snobbish posers who think they know more than they do.

We have some better-than-average sorts in our local EB Games though. Unfortunately, their 18 Wii preorders ran out 30 minutes after offering them, while I was working.

I’m a bit worried, but not TOO much, since they’re probably reining back their preorder allotments to try to avoid another 360-like fiasco, plus Nintendo will have plenty of consoles at launch.

I’m still worried though.

Hi all, a bit off topic but i was enquire about the wii pre-order at an eb store in brisbane cbd in Australia yesterday. I was asking if they have any bonus for pre-ordering. Since i heard toy-r-us give you a free game and target give you voucher. The idiots there think i am an idiot or something. He said, oh you get wii sport as bonus and it only include in the first batch of wii ( i haven’t hear this before ). That store must need some pre-order or something ?

I’ve never bought a console on launch day. The Wii is looking like it will be my first.

Even so, I hate GameStop and EBGames. The employees are almost always like Comic Book Guy on “The Simpsons”. Their used game buying and selling practices are ripoffs. And they enjoy too much prominence as a game retailer, without really deserving it (snobby, sometimes downright misinformed opinions, not platform agnostic at all, manipulative in what’s displayed on shelf space and demo kiosks–I could go on).

Like I commented on another blog, I hate them enough to potentially deprive myself of a Wii on launch day. Though I feel confident there will be enough to go around. And if I have to wait, I won’t mind. It’ll give me time to read all the first impressions that get posted. Hoping Red Steel lives up to its promise.

I prefer supporting the b-list retailers.
