Wii DVD Poll, Does It Matter

Im getting a ps3 instead of a wii or the 360 because it has the most features. this is what casual gamers and families want, one set top box to do everything. Mom likes to shop online, dad likes to wacth action packed movies in 1080p, my sister loves to chat on myspace, and Ill be using our ps3 to play Rachet and Clank and I also plan to use it to store my music and movies and to type my school papers.

suprnonmouse, they cut the webrowser also. Now you have to buy it using wii points.
  • Gaming consoles and computers, things that I have already purchased features DVD playback so if the Wii doesn't support it, it's not a problem for me. I personally wouldn't even use it anyways, I already have a proper DVD player connected. But I see why some people may be upset that it doesn't, maybe they don't own one or maybe the room they want to put the Wii doesn't have one so they were planning to use it for a DVD player as well as a gaming device.

Why bother with a web browser if they're just going to hamstring it without DVD playback. C'mon nintendo, you've already got the laser, the output video hardware, and when people buy a dongle, you pass the price of the license on to them, those who want it! A nice low power/low noise DVD player in a small form factor with a neat remote schema would have been slick.

Given the fact that you can get a DVD player for $30 now... it doesn't matter.
  • Yeah - I want DVD playback in my consoles. I don't own a DVD player and currently use my PS2 for one.

Might be stupid, but I do not care. I want DVD playback in a $250 peice of gaming hardware.
