Ubisoft Employees Jumping Ship

ubiquit.jpgThe Montreal Ubisoft studio responsible for such hits as Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia is apparently in a state of distress. According to a local magazine, La Presse Affaires, there has been a huge surge of firings and departures from the famed studio. The source blames what it calls a conflict between French and Quebecois which has created a hostile working environment.

The conflict started back in April when Martin Tremblay, CEO of the Montreal studio put in his resignation to go work for Vivendi based out of California. A move which surprised many considering that Martin helped build Ubisoft to where it is today. The article goes on to state that several other high ranking Ubisoft employees have also left and that many others are on their way out soon.

“According to an inside source that does not wish to be identified, along with those in management, a good number of modelers, graphic artists, and producers have left since Mr. Tremblay’s resignation,”

Turnover is something every company has to deal with I just hope this does not affect the release of the next Splinter Cell.

Interesting to me since I live in Montreal and I briefl, worked for Gameloft for a while. Gameloft is the mobile division of Ubi, it’s in the same building.

Tensions between French people and Quebecois hun?….hahahah…could be. ;)

I’m Quebecois and my current boss is french and I have no problem with her whatsoever.

“Some” french people “can” have an attitude problem sometimes though.
