That Wasn’t in the Movie!
Some new shots of the Superman Returns video game were released the other day and I really don’t see where they are going with it. I definitely don’t remember any dragons or giant robots from when I saw the movie.
Oops, sorry for any possible spoilers there for people who haven’t seen the movie. No, wait a minute. There is no way revealing a lack of dragons and giant robots is a spoiler, because the very idea of them being in the Superman Returns movie is completely absurd!
I’m confident that we can all agree that if dragons or giant robots were in the movie, they would be… out of place… and… well, stupid. Why is it any different the video game? Do gamers have lower standards than movie-goers? Or is this just another case of gamemakers milking a license that’s only tangentially related to the game they wanted to make in the first place?
Seriously, look at the screenshot with the giant robot in it. I would never guess that it’s from a game called “Superman Returns”… where the hell is Superman? I’m willing to concede that this may be a fun game (it’s got to be better than the abysmal Superman 64), but from these screenshots, it doesn’t look like an authentic Superman Returns experience.
