Sony’s “This Is Living: Real Time” Ad

Submitted by on September 7, 2006 – 5:42 pm4 Comments

We’ve stumbled upon yet another, and one of many I’m sure, ads for Sony’s PS3 “This Is Living” campaign. You may recall the more recent promo ad we wrote about before which was about 1-minute long showing off their brand name. This promo short is over 3-minutes long and is part of a six-part series on their “Real Time” pitch to get you to shell out the big bucks. So what’s this clip all about you ask? Well Sony is trying to sell you on the unpredictable (like a punching bag) behaviour of their ‘Real-Time’ gaming PS3, because it’s all real-time! Just like that “real-time” Killzone 2 clip we saw at E3 2005. They throw a few metaphors and some deep, introspective speeches your way followed by some very nice footage of Resistance and other game clips near the end. Well they’ve certainly got the “unpredictable” part of their sales pitch right, wouldn’t you agree?

That has to be the lamest ad I have ever seen!

  • Billza says:

Yeah it didn’t really say much to me. WTF? We already know next-gen games can do “life-life graphics in real-time”…duuuurrrrrr….

  • Paul says:

wait, so … what are they advertising? cuz if its online “real-time” opponents, uh, that’s uhm, kinda … old now.

I think it’s always funny to see these PS3 ads. Since if “this is living” then that means i have to wait for several months before i can get a life .
