The latest news on the IGF website is that there is a record-breaking total of 141 entries to the 9th Annual Independent Games Festival being held in San Francisco next March. That’s a pretty staggering number, and I really don’t envy the jury that has to pick a winner for each category.

So that you don’t have to scour through all the entries, Garage GamesAndy Schatz has a rundown of the entries to keep an eye on. The two from his list that really stood out to me are Flashbang Studio’s Tune and The Behemoth‘s Castle Crashers. Tune is a game about game design. That immediately got my attention and as a bonus the graphics look very clean. I had to mention Castle Crashers because I’ve been looking forward to it since seeing a YouTube video of its showing at PAX. Plus, it’s from the team that brought us Alien Hominid!

Indie games are going strong. It will be interesting to see what games people come up with, with the XNA PC/360 development kit.

    Yeah.

Castle Crashers is an Xbox360 game, and I get the feeling that we will be seeing many more in future. I hope the XNA development kit helps produce more titles that the old PSX Net Yaroze.
