Playstation Phones Are Coming

Submitted by Shane on September 5, 2006 – 6:17 pmComments

se_playstation_200.jpgInformation is vague, but Sony is “working on something” related to a Playstation phone. Sony Ericsson’s senior vice president of product and application planning, Rikko Sakaguchi, who spoke at the recent media conference in Malmo, Sweden said it won’t be a device for gaming rather something that links gaming and communications together.

We also know that It will be a mobile television focused phone using the WEGA branding like the current Sony Ericsson phones which already use the Walkman and Cyber-Shot branding. So the guessing game begins. How will this phone be tied into gaming, if at all? Will it communicate with a PSP and/or PS3? Will Sony use it as a vehicle to sell you games via this phone by way of trailers and such? Will it go the way of the Nintendo DS MP3 player as a device that attaches to your PSP? Your guess is as good as mine.
