I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

There are very few things in the video gaming world that are absolute certainties. Truths that can be relied on with complete confidence. As soon as you learn to rely on a certain franchise or company, you will almost always be let down. However, there is one thing that is always true, all the time.

When changes are made to Counter-Strike, be they as simple as adding a new texture, or as far reaching as the latest announced change, a very loud segment of the CS community will complain . . . a lot. They will complain everywhere and anywhere that allows comments. Logging into a public Counter-Strike server will always net you a less-than-mature chat experience, but when it’s patch time, there always seems to be an extra special amount of all-caps cries of “OMGZ VALVE IS SUCH A NUB I HATE THEM!!!!111″

The latest change is very interesting, though. Valve is implementing a global marketplace, wherein weapons that are purchased more often in your typical Counter-Strike game will see their prices go up. Less used weapons will see their prices go down. Expectedly, this is going to piss a lot of people off.

I say, so what. I don’t see Valve being able to stop servers from implementing their own prices at the server level. Adding a server-side mod to do this is a rather trivial task. I guess we’ll see if enough people are pissed off that the majority of servers ignore Valve’s marketplace idea or not.

My personal opinion is that this is a good thing, and actually is tempting me to get back into playing CS, as I haven’t played for several months. Of course, I always liked the less popular weapons, anyway.
