I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

First PS3 Box Art Template

The art template for the first PS3 game: Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom has surfaced and there’s been a few slight alterations to the design in addition to accommodating the much loved Blue-ray disc format. The Playstation logo now rests embossed on a white background as opposed to the previous black background on PS2 games, which stands out more because of the colours in the logo. The placement of the ESRB and Publisher’s logo hasn’t changed but the location of the words “Playstation 2″ or in this case (pun intended) “Playstation 3″ are now left-aligned as opposed to the very top. At first glance you might think this is a shot of the spine because this his how you design front and back covers but apparently it’s where the name will sit vertically. Even though it may look a bit silly, to me this makes more sense, since it leaves more room for artwork and isn’t as distracting. So what are your thoughts, does the final new design appeal to you?

I think it’s fine…I do like that the name is on the left and not on the top distracting from the art. I wonder how big or small it will be now for blueray?

I wounder if they will have rounded edges like bluray movies?

Only problem I see is a crap game. The movies and screenshots have left me very unimpressed of the PS3

At first glance, it doesn’t look too bad (it is probably the box art of the game that decreases the PlayStation 3 art cool factor). The PlayStation logo doesn’t seem to look right though, and personally it probably would look better at the top like the past console.

I don’t know what the actual case for Blu-Ray looks like but the dimensions also look wonky. It is probably the DVD case familiarity that creates this but nonetheless, I’m not a big fan of it [at the moment].
