Xbox Portable: What Features Will You Bring?

    By Shane | August 1, 2006

TeamXbox has gone to great extents in covering all possibilities for a future “XP” (Xbox Portable) game console. Their five page article speculate that Microsoft would have a hard time selling a portable for under $300 due to the already hyper-competitive portable market and lack of experience in the hardware area. I highly doubt myself that Microsoft would even consider selling a portable for over $300. Besides, they have had tremendous success in marketing the Xbox 360; for that I say live and learn – and they’ve certainly learned how the gaming wheels turn with their now successful next-gen console.

We’ve seen fan renditions before. How about this jumbo-sized portable on portable systems, or the net-popular “Exodous” that made the blog rounds a while ago. Finally there was the “Velocity” that also raised a few eye brows as well. While TeamXbox’s rendition is too big, it’s just a mockup, but it does give you an idea of the basic features one should expect to see on a portable from Microsoft. I do like the keyboard idea myself. If you disagree, you can let them know what you think of their vision on their special discussion thread.

The xbox portable should be a small laptop and be able to play xbox games as well as run apps like a computer.

I doubt they will go through with this. It would be wise for them to make profit on their home console before making a portable. sony didnt make a portable until after making the two most succesful console of all time. theres realy no reason for ms to rush this. they should focus on the 360 before the ps2 kills it. yes I said PS2!
