The Final PS3 User Interface

Submitted by on August 20, 2006 – 9:19 am2 Comments

IGN Weekly has given us a 3-minute direct-feed video on the PSP-like PS3 interface which we’ll all see come this November, if Sony has actually started producing the PS3. The interface in this final build is as minimal as you could get, in fact you might ask where’s the rest of it? The look and feel is not far off from what was shown at E3, minus the wavy band and black in the background. Bring back the wavy band, I say! So we’re looking at just 5 icons in the root directory and a soft blue gradient as your “desktop”. The background is supposedly customizable with custom desktop-like pictures so you won’t be staring at blue forever. They even call up the game Untold Legends to show viewers how the interface will look over top of a game, which is nice.

Its nice but weres the music, video, and network/webrowser icons that were shown at e3. This looks more like the dev kit ui that I saw a few days ago than the ps3s actual final ui.
