Sony’s “This Is Living” PS3 Ad
I’ve worked a number of ad agencies and design firms as a Graphic Designer over the years and I must say I was quite confused by this “This Is Living” promo spot for Sony’s PS3. I’m not saying I’m a pro but I’ve seen a lot of ads, and it came with mixed messages. Perhaps the clip wasn’t meant for TV or to push the PS3, rather a “hey look at us at a game convention!” message. It seemed like this clip was more about let’s-see-what-we-can-do-with-CG and get the “PS3″ logo out there, which I dislike, rather than a short, concise ad with a solid message. Their tag line: “This Is Living”, to me, implies that living is all about the PS3; You haven’t lived until you’ve played a PS3. Well, I’m alive enough to know they need a new catch phrase. Oh yeah, and the script typeface is weak.

What does this so called Playstation 3 do. I have no idea, except that it makes me living. Maybe I can carry it around with me and live to be really, really old.
everyone knows what it is (a playstation) so what it does will be entertain on a new level. they are not going to sit there and list all the features, that could take days. no one is going to buy somthing for over 50 bucks without knowing exactly what it does. ” Hey that looks cool and the ps2 was great maybe I should check it out.”
PLAYSTATION- an entertainment system with graphics surpasing those of any game console before it and added multimedia features also not seen in previous game consoles and not widely used in computers as of launch.
“this is living” script typeface is SOOOOO weak!!
doesnt fit the futuristic feel at all!
