What better way to let your gamer partner, sibling, child, pet or…I don’t know, pen pal – that you love them by getting a game-themed cake catered just for that special occasion. We’ve worked hard to track down the top-ten game cakes out there and then compiled a list of the sweetest ones available. Of course we can’t sample these creations so this is just going by presentation alone. So, dig in!

cake360.jpg#10. Coming in at 10 is this XBox 360 cake. I decided to stick it at 10 because they could’ve added more detail, smoothed out the icing and did a proper typeface treatment. I’ll give them a pat on the shoulder for getting the shape and icing colour a good go. It’s a nice try, but no cigar.

cakeasteroid.jpg
#9. Making its appearance at 9 is this Asteroids cake. When I myself think of an Asteroids cake I’d expect a little creativity, wouldn’t you? How about the triangular ship made out of chocolate sticks in a 3D triangle shape and the rocks are big chunks of carefully crafted pieces of cake on a 3D plane? In other words, “3D”. See…now we’re talking!

cakexbox.jpg#8. At 8 we have the first of a few XBox cakes which seems to have been somewhat of a trend at one point. This isn’t the best because the XBox doesn’t look that fat and the controllers don’t look like boomerangs. They get high marks for detail but again, it just doesn’t cut it – so to speak. Heh. They even had “…permission from Microsoft “to make this cake.

cakegamecube.jpg

#7. At lucky 7 we have this Gamecube cake and the reason why it’s not higher on the list is because it’s just too big. One can argue that it needs to be that size to accommodate a whole party – fine, be that as it may but it stays at #7. I will say that I like the detailing and the real controller is an added touch.

cakexbox2.jpg

#6. Arriving at 6 is another XBox cake. This one came pretty close to competing with this XBox cake. I actually couldn’t decide which one was better. They’re both disproportionate (probably for baking reasons) but have the same amount of detail on them.

cakewii.jpg
#5. This Nintendo Wii controller cake was probably the first ever made and it looks good but they cheated as the top is just a photo. Still, it looks nice and is going to sit in 5th position.

cakeps2.jpg
#4. Talk about “dedication”. Till Games Do Us Part! The first PS1 cake in the list needs no introduction. It didn’t get higher marks because it’s fricken huge but the detail is fabulous and they added the controller for effect. Looks like extended video game sessions won’t be breaking up this marriage anytime soon. Hey, this guy looks like my old boss.

cakeintell.jpg
#3. I probably would’ve been given heck if I didn’t include one of Rakka’s cakes. I chose her Intellivision cake because it’s unique and has some nice details. The cake is lemon with a lemon buttercream icing. the knobs and the fake woodgrain are gingerbread and the cord connecting the controller is licorice.

cakekatamari.jpg

#2.You have to love this colourful Katamari cake. It’s near-perfect, almost made #1 and is evidently also owned by Rakka – what cake DIDN’T Rakka make? (Thanks for the correction). The top parts are cupcakes and the colours of the icing are a perfect balance. I suppose the only reason why it didn’t make it to first is just not enough detail. Perhaps by sticking a bunch of junk on it would’ve made a nice touch.

cakexbox4.jpg
#1. I promise no more Xbox cakes, Ok just this last one because it takes the…cake. This awesome cake is the winner because everything is edible right down to the controller, disc and buttons. It has great detail and is proportionally accurate. There’s even a Birthday message right on the disc. If you don’t think this one wins, tell us why and which one is the best.

  • brown kid

all these cakes r gay…people just need to get laid

  • Mark

Ok I think you did a pretty poor job of rating these. First of all, #5 is useless. It’s just a regular cake with a picture on top of it. I could make a regular square cake and put a picture of an xbox on top of it and it will be just as creative. I don’t even know what #2 is. #3 is ok, but quality wise I don’t think it deserves the #3 spot. And I think it’s idiotic that you would take points off for size. These aren’t supposed to be replicas they are supposed to be cakes. Good thing nobody made a gameboy cake because it would have had to be bite sized for you to approve. Oh, and wtf is #10? It’s just a rectangle with some writing on it. That’s pathetic. And #9 looks like shit.

  • ???

wow!! im amazed at how much most of these “top ten” videogame cakes suck, rakka i am really amazed at how you find new ways to be even more suckier. damn i have never been so amazed in how bad people suck. #10…. just is horrible, i dont need to talk about it because its just bad.

  • matt

#2 on the list is a Katamari from a very addictive PS game. If you ever get to play the game, youll know why it comes in at that spot. Plus a round cake with cupcake spots is much harder to make than a quadrangle cake.

  • In AWW

    NERDS!

  • anonymous

i think that some of the cakes could have been better, but come on these things are hard to do. i don’t know how many of you have actually ever tried to bake a cake granted that your moms still do it for you, but it is truly hard to do something like this. i am not a gamer and i don’t care about whatever a katamari is, but i think that you need to lay off. people put time and consideration into these cakes and some of you are just being jerks about it. grow up and stop being so critical. geez. i congratulate all who entered and all who got a spot. great job!

  • Jaffe Jafer

    This is the funniest thing

    “The PS2 cake is not a PS2!”

“Umm… buddy… there is no PS2 cake, and noone ever said there was…”

    What an idiot

and number 9 should have been number 1

  • OK,,,,

the nintendo wii lacked creativity, (by the way, where do i find those???) and 10 was SO much better than 9! also, 8 is SO much better than six.

  • nic

Besides the horrendous rating style of whoever created this “contest” what’s really fun are the people who are saying, “God, why are you being so critical. People put their heart and souls into these cakes and you should appreciate it blah, blah, blah.”

If these cakes were submitted then they’re SUPPOSED to be rated. That’s what a rating scale is all about. SO let’s say someone made a cake and it comes out looking worse than a donkey show … but he REALLY REALLY worked hard on it, I’m supposed to APPRECIATE IT?! FUCK THAT.

    Stop being so fucking sensitive.

  • anonymous

about the comment by nic: the comments being left by some of these people are just rude and insensitive. yes, i realize that this is a contest and that these people entered to be judged, but have you ever heard of a thing such as constructive critism? the only thing people are doing is pointing out the bad and emphasizing it to the extreme. i’m not saying to be all whoo-hoo this looks great, but people could be a little nicer.

  • Defalt User

What a bunch of tards, whats next, Star Wars characters? Oh…Chewys fur doesn’t look real enough and his forehead is too big, and Darth Vaders helmut isn’t shiny enough, and the angles by his mouth are 2.75 degrees off WTF

  • Jules

People need to stop whining, these are creative cakes. If you think you can do any better, then do so and stop being little whores.

  • haha

its funny how people get so worked up over these things.

10: some skill with the stuff on the side but thats about it.
9:no skill thats just playing with the squirt thingy.
8:I’d say this is the best, it looks the best and has the nicest detail.
7:pretty darn good, a little weak on detail.
6:the controller sucks but the main part is good minus the damage.
5:I agree, no skill, however a pat on the back for the idea.
4:is actually really good, nice detail
3:no, this is bad, could be cleaned up a good bit, so no.
2:yet again, could be cleaned up a bit, i have the game and my bro loves it.
1:this is the best and is very nicely done with edible everything.

thats what i think and everyone who gets in a fight over it is just stupid because im not going to come back and read what people say.

  • Some good Some Suck

8 should be at like 2,7 should also be higher ,2 should be mush higher #wise like a 8 ,9 sucks someone was bored and had 5 mins lol

  • Anonymous

    the wedding one is just….

    lmao like seriously.. haha

  • Pilates

It’s not that hard to make a round cake. Just go to your local Bulk Barn (or whatever you have in your area) and RENT A ROUND CAKEPAN!

And I agree with the size thing – so what if the cake is larger than the real thing? Especially at a wedding, you’ll need a big cake to feed all your guests.

  • yo mamma

you all are friggin awsome yeh i luv those cakes now make a ps3 plse
