Sony Borrows ONE BAZILLION YEN

Okay, more like 80 billion.
Sony Corp., the world’s second- largest consumer electronics maker, said it took out an 80 billion yen ($698 million) syndicated loan last week, its first bank borrowing in 10 years, to diversify funding sources.
In case anyone was confused, “To diversify funding sources” is marketing-speak for “We aren’t making enough money from sales of our product.”
Criticism was heaped upon scorn when Microsoft seemingly gambled billions of dollars on its new Xbox division. Well, they may have been crazy. They may end up being fairly miserable, in the end. But as the saying goes, misery loves company.
