Indie Game: Darwinia

Submitted by Brett on July 20, 2006 – 1:40 pmComments

DarwiniaDuring the summer months when hardly any games are released, I find myself looking for new treasures out and about on the internet. I have just come across this wonderful gem, Darwinia. This is a very creative and unique gaming experience. There is also a ton of depth in the gameplay seeing as it is a big mix of several genres of games. I would personally describe this game as a puzzle, action, real-time strategy. It has great controls that really make you feel like you are in the game. The graphics are a pleasure to view as they have a very sci-fi look and feel to them, but are very crisp and clean. Truly this games owes a lot of its graphic stylings to Tron, but it is still a beauty to behold. Don’t take my word for all this though. Head over to the Darwinia website and downlod the demo. It is a good chunk of the game that really gives you a taste of what the full version is like. Also, OS X and Linux users are not left out this time. You can get the game for whatever platform you are running. Enjoy!

  • Darwinia is an absolute classic of a few years back. It sold terribly on release but enjoyed a bit of a renaissance when it was released on Steam.

Put together by a very small development team it goes to show that you really can make great games without a multi-million $$$ budget.
