Games Used to Treat Soldiers

Virtual Reality based video games have been used in order to train soldiers for quite some time now, but one company is experimenting with away of treating soldiers for physiological issues after they return home form war using the very games that trained them.
The Virtual Reality Medical Center in San Diego is using state of the art VR tech, along with games like Full Spectrum Warrior in order to treat soldiers who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a condition that that affects nearly 18% of soldiers who return home from Iraq.
The system works by monitoring heart rate and other bodily functions when exposed to the same type of stimuli a soldier may have faced in Iraq. They then teach the soldiers how to slow down their heart rate and remain calm, while they let them play or watch traumatic scenarios. This allows the soldiers to learn how to stay clam, and will hopefully transfer into everyday moments.
Much more is being done with this project, to find out more go here.
