Color Blind Gaming

When I was very young I brought home a picture that I had colored of a Pilgrim. While most normal parents would have thought that the purple hair I chose for my Pilgrim was just a ruse on my part, my dad thought different. My dad is an Optometrist, and he immediately tested me to see if I was colorblind, which I am.

Being colorblind has only effected my gaming a few times. A few team kills here and there is usually the biggest effect, but there is one game that has caused me to forsake my eyes, Rockstar Table Tennis, and Joystiq has posted an article about how difficult it is to play Table Tennis for us colorblind, due to the fact that the spin of the ball is related in color. You can always just hit a random button in Table Tennis and still win, but online play and the tougher parts of the single player game are damn near impossible when you are colorblind, unless you are playing a noob.

I am glad to see that the issue of colorblind gamers is starting to make headway. I have noticed a few games over the past years that offer a colorblind setting, and I hope this will continue as the games progress.
