Video Games Never Made

Sim Mars almost got to “…1…” on the launch sequence.

The article driven tech site: Twitch Guru has composed an in-depth look at a few games that never made it to our TV’s and/or monitors over the years. Aptly titled – “The Best Games Never Published: A Visit to the Video Game Development Hell” discusses games that I’ve never even heard of like StarFox 2 for the SNES. I loved the first Starfox and must’ve beat it a dozen times over. That was one hard game. Twitch also tells us about Sim Mars (pictured above). Sim Mars was supposed to be a Sim City in space game – colonizing, terraforming and other world building like the rest of the Sim’s games. There was even a trailer for it on Sim City 3000 but it never saw the light. The fans actually made their own version and is still around today. Sim Mars reminds me of the soon to be released (ok almost another year away) Spore game. It too takes place in space and is a world builder.

I for one can think of a couple off the top of my head that were either close to being cancelled or just ditched recently. The FPS game STALKER for the PC almost didn’t make it and then there was Stargate SG1 – The Alliance which had a really rough road through development, then got axed.

Are there any more out there you can think of? If so, let us know.
