MarioKart Source: Koopa & the Combine!

Apparently the guys over at MOD DB are hard at work to bring MarioKart up to date by using the Half Life 2 Source engine. They say it will include almost all the original game play and features that fans of MarioKart have enjoyed. Included will be all the original weapons, 16 characters, and yes powersliding.
They are also looking for some help in order to get the mod finished. If you have experience in building 3d models or any kind of source engine know-how make your way to their site and see if you can help. There is no official release date, however you can see some early 3d models and track shots here.
Just an idea for the developers: How about a headcrab weapon?
