Internet Explorer, Why?

too_cool_large.jpgTechnology sucks. A big thanks to Jason on his game blog Unfettered Blather for pointing out that you can’t comment on Aeropause in IE (Internet Explorer) but why would you want to – use IE that is. I’m just kidding, it’s a decent browser and half the people who visit still use it despite not having all the cool features like tabs, plugin and skin support. Therefore I’m putting the word out that the bug is fixed and you can now comment in IE again. I do hope IE7 is easier to work with from a Developer/Designer’s perspective, we shall soon find out. Whoppie! I want to pose the question though, and I realize this isn’t game related. We all have our opinions on what browser is the best but why do you use IE if you’re on a PC and not one of the other browsers? I myself am a Firefox lover.

Unfortunately, work makes me use IE.

I’m also forced by my employer to use Infernal Exploder. At home and on the road I stick to Firefox, although the “View in IE” extension comes in quite handy for those sites that are so broken they only work in IE.

Nobody uses IE out of choice, they use it out of habit. I know of nobody – nobody- who, once they start using Firefox, willingly use IE.

That’s exactly right, Steve. I use IE out of habit. I have Firefox and I think it’s a good browser, but I’ve been using IE for years thanks to Netscape doing such a good job of imploding on themselves.

Regardless, it does kind of suck to not have cross-browser support. I’ve never figured out why Typepad has issues with IE. There are still other blogs I read that use Typepad that can’t accept comments from IE, which is an unfair limiter on the blog operator’s audience.

Yeah with IE and Typepad it’s either a cache issue or a UTF issue but they supposedly fixed that with 3.2. It was a code error on my behalf this time, though.
