Augmented Games coming to a phone near you?

Wired News reports that a lab in New Zealand has been taking the Wii-mote concept just one step further by using cell phones as controllers. The Human Interface Technology Laboratory recently demoed a game of AR Tennis using a couple of Nokia Series 60 phones and a piece of paper.

The Wired article goes on to speculate about the future development of AR or augmented reality games. And while Human Pacman is strangely intriguing to me, I still can’t help but feel that AR gaming has a whiff of VR about it. Must be the headgear displays used in the more complicated games…
