Build your own Kameo fan site: Because you can
Just about every mainstream video game out there has dozens of fan sites following the particular games every move. Now anybody can build their own FSK or Fan Site Kit with the recent release of Kameo: Elements of Power for the XBox 360. I imagine game companies consider fan sites and viral marketing like this somewhat significant. This file from (Microsoft Studios?) comes in the form of a Zip document at a staggering 107.8 MB of data. I actually took the time to download it from Planet XBox 360 to see what was under the hood. I’ve been doing Web/Graphic design for the last 6 years so I was curious to see how it was setup. Does it require a blog account? Is it CSS based? So many questions.
Well it wasn’t any of that. In fact it was a whole bunch of images for a Kameo website theme, icons, contact sheets, logos, textures you name. All images. No web templates or anything like that. I guess that’s what Blogger, MT and WordPress are for. Easy setup.
So if you have this game already and love it enough to design your own site. This is where to begin.
