Superstar status
Want to be a superstar? This is a neat idea. ‘Superstar’ is a multiplayer game played only in Tokyo where you shoot photos of other people to get noticed yourself. What you will need is a QR-capable cell phone and some Puri Kura stickers of mug. The idea is to post the stickers in and around Tokyo but not hidden so that others can’t see them. When you see a sticker of someone elses face, you shoot it with your cam phone. You then upload those pics and you get points for doing so, plus you create a reciprocal link between you and the person whos picture you’ve shot. From that point on, whenever you shoot pictures, the people who you’ve already taken pictures of, gets assist points and vise versa. Like a network. So the goal of the game is to get as many points and exposure as possible.
Credit for the wonderful idea goes to the following people:
Superstar was designed and created by area/code, built by Kamida, and powered by Mobot mobile visual search technology. Flash programming and design by David Hirmes. Additional coding by Irwin Chen. Translation by Taku Lippit. The game is intended to run in conjunction with Ubicomp 2005.
