Scorpiodrome: Tangible Gaming

It seems like there have been recent technological achievements in – I’ll call it: tangible interactive virtual reality, where we are seeing more and more experiments pop up. Such as the demo of the guy driving a video game controlled vehicle on a real life table. I have lost the link to that video demo so if someone knows of it I’d be happy to repost it.
Scorpiodrome is of the same nature where it was designed with the intention of social interaction amongst children. The idea is to operate a remote controlled scorpion toy against other scorpions in a virtual table top environment, with tangible and intangible objects.
I could imagine in 6 years, a main stream consumer video game company like Nintendo (Revolution 2?) where you control a hologram-like Mario on your coffee table in 3D.
