PS3: the “Mac Mini” for gamers

ps3_sm.jpgThe Sony UK site reads that the PS3′s hard drive could in fact support multiple OS’s like Linux or Tiger!

“The operating system has also yet to be clarified. The integrated Cell processor will be able to support a variety of operating systems (such as Linux or Apple’s Tiger).”

I think this is a smart move for Sony. After the release of the PS2 and XBOX, people have been soldering away at their machines to allow another OS to run for a while now. We want customization! The XBOX 360 has their interchangable, external interfaces. Perhaps it too will allow other OS’s to operate – other than Microsoft’s own OS, without taking your box down to the workshop. This makes it a tough decision as to what system to buy now. PS3 or 360? With a PS3 I could almost ditch the computer by blogging and playing games at the same time. Ah, I’ll just get both and save the worrying.
