Shadow of the Colossus

So I belive Shadow of the Colossus is coming out in October. The follow-up to the cult’ish game Ico, which was one of my top five favorite games ever. I was so excited when that game came out that I bought one of those game mags that had a demo of one of the Ico levels in it. The mag was something like $12 Cdn and I was broke but I didn’t care. Anyway when Ico came out I beat it over a weekend. That’s how much I played it. To me Ico was so fantastical and full of imagination. It reminded in a way of that great Anime movie Spirited Away.

Ok enought babbling about that. Shadow of the Colossus is due out soon and I’m thinking I want to get a PS2 just to play it. PS2′s are cheap now aren’t they? Or I could wait for a PS3 as I believe it will backwards compatible? Regardless, this article came out in March so you may have read it but there’s some great dialogue with Kenji Kaido – the creator.

    PS2′s are between $99-$199 these days, depending on how you get them (refurb, ebay, new, etc).

    Hard call. I believe the PS3 won’t have compatibility with old memcards and I have had a couple of PS1 games not work right on my PS2 (like X-Com :( ), but all the same when the PS3 comes out it’s likely my PS2 is going into a box for my brother to receive.

    If they were around $99 new, I’d say get one in a heartbeat. As it is, maybe wait to see if there’s a price break for the holidays.

    Yeah you’re right I just checked, they’re $179 here in Canada. At least on the Future Shop site they are. Which by the way, they redesigned their site and it looks so much better. They were bought out by the big Best Buy chain in the states a while ago. I will take a look around on Craigslist or something. We’ll see. There’s always some kid wanting to sell one for something else new.
