A stylish new designer tablet/laptop computer called Flybook has been released from Dialogue Corporation. It has outputs for TV, DVD and is touch-screen optional! Wow. So you could potentially play your games on it as well. I could imagine us using this gadget on Stargate. An actor could carry it around like the tablets we have and then he/she transforms it then sets it down on a desk or something.

Flybooks come in many colours and can include the following under the hood:

512MB DDR
Transmeta Crusoe TM-5800,
clock rate at 1 GHz
512K L2 Write-back Cache
LongRun technology to extend battery usage
8.9″ wide-view 16:9 display 1024×600 (Wide-XGA) high resolution
ATi Radeon Mobility high performance low power chipset
Built-in 16MB VRAM
Support VGA-out and Video-out
Support DirectXR 9.0
Windows XP Home – English
40 GB HD
U.S English
Touch Panel overlaid for full screen touch control
Bluetooth Version 1.1
GSM Tri Band (900/1800/1900 Mhz)
Wireless LAN 802.11b
Modem (56K)(RJ-11)
LAN (10/100 Mbps)(RJ-45)

I would be happy, to, um, playtest that for you, free of charge, if the show would just send one, you know, along …

In all seriousness they long hella sweet. I can’t remember when they first caught my eye, but if I had a few grand it would quite possibly become my PC replacement. Not that it will play Doom 3 all that well…

Yeah me to, send one to Stargate, please. I had the opportunity to “playtest” the PSP a month ago. Good times. We may use one on a future episode, not to sure. The Flybook is not the fastest laptop/tablet but it shines in other areas for sure.
