Playstation 3 or a used car?

The Playstation 3 will be quite expensive says Sony president Ken Kutaragi at the Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation Meeting in Tokyo. Going on to say “it will not be a cheap console and can’t be offered at a price that’s targeted towards households.”
Huh? This better be one damn fine console if you ask me. Does this mean it could be over $500? Wasn’t the PS2 released at a hefty price as well? The PS3 will be backwards compatible so maybe you could sell your PS1 and PS2, your stereo system and rollerblades to put towards a PS3. ‘Er, you’ll also need a HDTV to get the full effect.
