Game Rehash – Cold Fear

Although it did not recieve a fabulous score from the press, Cold Fear is actually an engaging game and is what I’m playing this week on the PC. With a similar style to Resident Evil and impressive visuals, you are stuck on a drifted Russian whaling ship in the middle of nowhere. Tom Hansen’s your name, a U.S. Coast Guard sent there to investigate a creepy ship. You must battle the humans and the unhumans, fight the crashing waves and other hazardous environmental objects on your harrowing path.

I’m well into the story and I am starting to feel that the game could use a change of scenery to break it up a bit. This is because you spend the whole game on the ship. However the developers at Darkworks manage to keep it interesting, despite the over extended visit.

Has anyone finished this game or played it and would like to share their opinion?

I wasn’t really impressed by Cold Fear at all. I was able to finish it in one sitting, and it has a pretty decent ending (I’m pretty sure as of right now you have already finished it and you know what I’m talking about), but the one thing that pissed me off about it was the crappy camera angles. The over the shoulder camera is awesome (RE4′s is the best) and I really wished they would have used it more often in the game itself.

Actually I kinda’ gave up on it. Even though it’s still sitting on my desktop. I think I’ll lay it to rest. I haven’t played RE4, everyone’s playing it! Sigh* I don’t have a Cube. Is it worth getting a cube just for that game? :-)

RE4 is also coming out for the PS2 sometime this year. But I’m not sure if it will look and play as smooth as it does on the GameCube. If you want to get a Cube you can’t beat the price ($99 for brand new, that’s pretty cheap). You might be able to find one for even cheaper just look around for game stores that sell used or pre-owned games and consoles. I bought my Cube for only about $70, I had enough left over for two games and an extra controller.

That is pretty cheap actually. I will consider that. Thanks
